The situation
The client held a senior role at a global sports brand, the kind of position where the pressure has no off-season. By every external measure, they were performing. Underneath, the operating system was running on stress, short nights, caffeine, and adderral: the mornings needed more of it, the sleep repaid less of it, and the composure that had once come naturally in high-stakes meetings was taking more and more effort to produce.
None of this was a crisis, which is exactly why it had gone on so long. High performers in sustained-pressure roles tend to reach out only once the cost of holding it together keeps rising past what they can absorb without comment. This client only reached out after he developed insomnia that affected his day to day performance and private life (e.g. no energy on the weekends to spend time with his kids)
The work
The engagement ran eight weekly sessions, online, following the Pressure Reset program, with personalized audio protocols between sessions.
The early sessions worked on the baseline. Before any performance work makes sense, a system that has been running hot needs to relearn how to power down. That meant structured mindfulness practices and self-hypnosis protocols built specifically around sleep. This is unglamorous work, and it is where most of the change begins: a body that recovers overnight changes what is possible during the day.
The later sessions moved into the rooms where the pressure lived. Practical cognitive reframing for high-stakes meetings: examining what the minutes before a board presentation were actually triggering, then rehearsing a different way through them. The self-hypnosis skills from the early weeks became portable - something the client could run before walking in, without anyone in the room knowing.
What changed
The changes arrived in the order the work predicts. Sleep improved first. The reliance on caffeine and the on-and-off adderral use faded on its own, since the exhaustion it had been covering for was gone. And the board room, which had been the hardest room, became the clearest evidence of the shift: composed, effective, present on the days that counted. One of the key improvements the client mentioned is that his focus is calmer and now sustainable over longer periods of intense work or meetings.
The engagement ended after session eight. The protocols, the reframing tools, and the self-hypnosis practice all stayed with the client, which is how the work is designed: skills that transfer, then a practice that runs without me.
